Putting it on before you leave

WHIP is made to stay on the closed door, with the door latched, through high-wind weather, so it rides with you if you evacuate. A few things I tell everyone on the coast: - It goes on in about fifteen minutes and comes off in about five. Put it on when the watch is issued, not when the wind arrives. - It has no certified wind rating and has not been tested by an engineering authority for wind speed, so use at higher speeds is at your own risk. - If it ever blocks your view, take it off. - Between storms it stores in its own bag.
