Severe weather

Squall lines, derechos, ice.
Same kit, same fifteen minutes.

Straight-line wind, squall lines, derechos, winter ice with wind behind it. Anything the weather can pick up and throw at a vehicle's door windows is what the kit is built to meet.

What it throws at a vehicle

  • Straight-line wind

Derechos and squall lines throw limbs, gravel and roofing without ever producing a tornado.

  • Ice and graupel

Winter fronts bring ice with wind behind it, and wind-driven ice dents like hail.

  • Night-time lines

The fastest lines cross after dark. Panels on at the evening watch, off in the morning.

What the kit is built for

Hail, debris and weather-driven projectiles at the doors and the glass they cover, in any season.

What it is not

Not bullet resistant. Not wind rated. Not a seal against water. The panel may not cover every inch of glass, and the agreement says so.

  • A blue pickup splashing through standing water on a dark road in pouring rain, rocky hills behind it
  • A red pickup with WHIP guards strapped over its doors in heavy rain, lightning striking the dark hills behind it
  • A dark gray pickup splashing across a wet, rocky shoreline as storm waves break and lightning strikes offshore

Questions

Before you pay.

Protects against hail, debris and weather-driven projectiles. Not bullet resistant. Not wind rated.

What counts as severe weather here?
Anything that throws hail, debris or weather-driven projectiles at a vehicle: squall lines, derechos, downslope wind, winter ice with wind.
Can it stay on overnight?
It is built to go on for a watch or a storm and come back off, not to live on the vehicle. EVAC's own build document says it is not for permanent mounting, and that time in the sun wears the polycarbonate. Put it on when the watch is issued, take it off once the weather clears.
Does it fit a car?
It can, within two limits in EVAC's documents: the door needs three straight edges large enough to hang the hooks and straps on, and the panel can be no larger than 36 by 36 inches. The document is drawn around a full-size pickup, and you pattern the panel to your own door.

Storms don't wait.
Be ready.

Fifteen minutes on, five minutes off, and it stores in its bag. Order before the season, not during it.
